Paul lowered to the ground breathing in shallow painful rasps.  His skin darkened and drew tight about his face eventually splitting into long vertical stripes.  The bright red flesh beneath forming a stark contrast against the dark emaciated skin.

"Oh God, Paul.  What's happening to you."  Maya shouted moving to help him.  Paul pushed her forcefully in the chest.

"Keep your filthy hands off me" He growled .  "I know you!  I know all of you, everyone, everything.  I can see them all."  The slashes on his face began to heal beneath the dried brown skin which was flaking off.

"Paul, you have to focus.  How do we stop her?"  Maya said regaining her composure.

"We?  WE!  Why the hell do you want to stop her?  She's one of you!"  Paul said sternly stepping towards Maya.  Maya reached for her blade.

"Paul, is this you or am speaking to . . ."  Maya said.

"I am Paul, but I am so many more as well.  In the beginning Man created God . . ."

"Paul, we don't have time for this.  Tal'shen is . . ."

"I am dealing with Tal'shen as we speak!"  Paul bellowed.

"Listen to me, our kind are psychic, telekinetic.  It seems by bringing you back I've passed this ability onto you.  You have to control it."

"I can see through billions of eyes.  I feel the pain of the world.  I can hear our ancestors back to the dawn of man."  Paul's face looked around the room as though he was seeing through the walls, to the limits of the expanding universe.  "We have wanted this for so long, a single father who could oversee mankind.  Bring them together into a single family, bind them and look after them.  I can do it, Maya.  I can be their God."  Paul's face was beaming, literally; yellow light streamed from his skin bathing the room.

"Paul, you need to slow down.  Just think."  Maya said backing away.

"Think?  I am one hundred billion minds that have been thinking for two hundred thousand years.  I am everything, the living God of this world and I will not tolerate interference from outsiders."  Paul extended an invisible hand that gripped Maya, crushing her slowly.

"Paul I tried to help you, I brought you back because I cared for you."  Maya gasped.

"No, you and your sister want to enslave us."

"No, Paul.  You're wrong.  We looked for you.  On our planet we made our Gods as you have been made today.  When we came here we looked for yours but couldn't find any.  We wanted permission from them to live here."  Paul's grip on Maya loosened.

"Those that would come again."  Paul said.

"Yes, that is what Tal'shen will be.  That is Lysanna's purpose, to make the first God of earth both human and alien.  That is what I have made you!"  Maya said as Paul released her from his grip.  "You need to stop her before she becomes as powerful as you."

"But I can crush her from here with a thought!"  With that Paul raised his hands lifting what was left of the roof from the building and sending it high into the sky.

"She is part human Paul.  Part of her is you.  You can't hurt her."

"Then how do we stop her?"  Paul asked.

"I can do it."  Maya said calmly.

"How?"  Paul replied.

"You need to turn the eyes of the world away from her, then fly me into her as hard and as fast as you can.  I'll tear my way inside her and destroy us both."

"You'll die to save us?"  Paul said.

"Tal'shen is an abomination, warped in every sense.  She will destroy everything on this planet, leaving it a waste land.  I will die either way."  Paul grabbed her tightly and kissed her hard.  Maya, surprised, didn't have a chance to respond.

Paul and Maya spiraled up through the roofless building and high into the sky above London.  He could see Tal'shen through the eyes of his people.  She was destroying everything in her path, absorbing bodies into her own, corrupting their minds and feeding from them.

Paul fell into a trance.  A moment later an intense kaleidoscopic light burst from his body as it became a conductor to every mind on earth.  Paul burned brighter as each mind turned towards him and for an instant all became one.

Maya hurtled towards Tal'shen like a bullet.

The light from Paul faded as the minds of the earth returned to their proper places.  Maya and Tal'shen were gone but Paul remained, motionless, hovering above London.  He could hear the voices of seven billion people, their hopes and fears, but much more than this, he knew he could help them.
